Project Coordinator – Commissioning and Start-up



Working under the Lead project coordinator, the project coordinator supervises the installation (when applicable), the start-up or the upgrading of equipment. He supervises people from other operating units from BID Group and contractors when they are on site. He must also ensure good communication between the client and various internal and external stakeholders (such as contractors and employees) and is responsible for jobsite safety.


  • Ensure the application of the company’s Health and Safety policies and maintain the necessary documents.
  • Coordinate and supervise installations, start-ups and equipment updates.
  • Ensure good communication with clients, project managers, the team under construction and the other departments.
  • Supervise the team under construction (internal and subcontractors).
  • Follow the schedule with the project manager and make the necessary adjustments.
  • Regularly review the labor requirements at the site.
  • Participate in problem solving on construction sites.



  • Management skills (planning, organizing, managing, controlling)
  • Negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of various pneumatic, hydraulic, and control components that are used in the manufacture of industrial machinery
  • Basic knowledge of the techniques and manufacturing processes related to plant activities (welding, assembling, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, paint) would be an asset
  • General knowledge of control and optimization is an asset
  • Available to work on site 14-21 days on, 7 days off.
  • Ability to use required software (Word, Excel, AutoCad, email, and internet)
  • Sawmill industry knowledge is an asset
  • Good communication skills
  • Teamwork oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high-speed environment
