Although the machining facilities were somewhat modest when operations first started in 1924, the company quickly earned itself an enviable reputation for the quality of its products.
Nevertheless, it is Comact's integration to the Benoît Allard Group in 1991, combined with its acquisition of Scierie Denis Equipment inc. and Multimeg, which were to constitute the keystone for the company's steady growth. Comact then has hence confirmed its lead on other manufacturers. In addition, Comact has been at the forefront of the industry with its new approach, specifically, designing and producing the best possible equipment on the market by means of constant investment in R&D and a genuine devotion to quality control.
On February 6, 2006, five (5) managers/shareholders announce the acquisition of the assets of Comact Inc.; who are Pierre Morency, Simon Potvin, Pierre Jolicoeur, Yvon Hubert and Jacques Bélanger. With the support of their financial partners, Comact Equipment Inc. acquires all the assets of these divisions: Comact Chicoutimi, Comact Saint-Georges, Comact Optimisation in Boisbriand and the administrative office on Lebourgneuf, in Quebec City.
